Program Features: Stock Graphs Reports
The Stock Graphs service provides exclusive access to 26 idea-generating reports. Derived from the Daily Graphs Printed Product Company Index, a weekly updated universe of the best 2800+ performing stocks, each report provides additional screening of this universe based on a variety of performance criteria. This assortment of Reports makes it possible to identify stocks with particular performance criteria.
The Reports are accessible from the Report command button. The menu is organized by its dominant screen criteria. Sub-menus are provided to assist in accessing all reports related to common performance characteristics.
Click a Report link to open a window containing a list of stocks meeting the selection criteria, as well as a wealth of price, volume, and proprietary data items.
REPORT WINDOW
The Report Window is a tool whose main function is to present the stocks and data related to a specific screening of the O'Neil Database®. To enhance the use of this information, the window is programmed to perform a number of tasks and display pertinent information:
Access Graphs
The display area provides the ability to view stocks, data, and to view the graph of any stock in the Report without the need to manually enter the stock’s symbol. To perform this task, simply double click the desired stock, or any of its data items.
To view a number of stocks in rapid succession, click any stock and then press the keyboard spacebar. Each time the spacebar is pressed, the next stock in descending order will appear.
It is possible to navigate the Report Window with the Up/Down Arrow keys to move one line at a time, or with the Page Up/Down keys to move one page at a time. When a desired item is highlighted, simply press the "Enter" key to access its graph.
Sort Data
When a Report is accessed, its content is presented in a specific order. To find stocks with characteristics of most interest to you, it is useful to sort the data.
Any data item may be used to sort the stocks—simply click on the descriptive header of that data item. Click the header once to sort on an ASCENDING order. Click the same data item header a second time to sort the data on a DESCENDING order.
To perform a sort based on two data items, perform the following steps:
- Click the data item header that is to be the primary sorting variable;
- Press/hold down the "Ctrl" key (this will retain primary sort order) and click the second data item header.
It is possible to perform a multivariate sorting or filtering of the data using programs such as Excel. For this and other purposes, the Report Window provides tools to export its data.
Export
The export command provided by the Report Window makes it easy to save the contents of a Report for future reference or use our data in another program. There are two ways to export data:
- Export data to Excel;
- Export data as a text (*.txt) file.
If Excel (version 5.0 or greater) is installed on your computer, simply click the Excel icon in the upper left corner. The contents of a Report will be copied into an Excel spreadsheet.
For additional information on using Excel to filter the Report contents, click here.
For our members that do not have Excel installed or desire to use the data in other program, we provide the option to export the data as text files.
To export data for use in the Stock Lists tool, utilize the export to text option. For additional details, see our Program Features on the Stock Lists.
Print Report
To print the contents of a Report, click the printer icon in the upper left corner. This will prompt the Printer Setup Window to open. Click "OK" to begin the printing process.
The printer setup may be used to change printers, print multiple copies, or make other adjustments to the printer settings.
View Report Description
To learn more about the selection criteria of a report or access the definitions of the items in a report, click the "Report Description" button. A new window will open with links to detailed information.
Report summary
In the lower section of each Report Window is a summary of the Report data. It includes the number of stocks selected, its date, and in parenthesis, the server designation that provided the Report.
NOTE: The date stamp is a reference to the day that price and volume data were last updated.
