STOCK LISTS

The Stock List feature will organize, store and display groups of stocks and indices. With this feature, an unlimited number of Stock Lists can be created.  Each Stock List will hold an unlimited number of stocks or indices.

The Stock List feature contains two elements: Stock List Menu and the Stock List Window

  • The Stock List Menu is used to manage Lists.  This includes opening Lists, creating Lists, importing Lists, and deleting Lists (see our Tips & Tricks section for suggested uses).
  • The Stock List Window is used to manage the contents of a List.  From this window, stocks or indices can be added or deleted, displayed, printed to exported to Excel (see our Tips & Tricks section for suggested uses).

Import:  This feature permits the subscriber to create a new Stock List from a file that already contains ticker symbols and equity names. This feature is available for the following files types: Text (Tab Delimited - *.txt"), Formatted Text (Space delimited - *.prn), or as Report (*.rep) .
To import a file, the file must meet the following conditions:
(1) For a spreadsheet file, the list of stocks must have ticker symbols in the first column and company name in the second column (this is for display purposes only).
If the imported file is from a text editor (i.e. Word, Note Pad), the ticker and company name must be separated with a "tab". When additional columns of data are included in a document, the import process will still function but any additional columns of data will not be imported to the Stock List.
(2) Files cannot be imported if it is in use by another application -- be sure to close the file before trying to import it.

With the above conditions met, the Stock List import feature can be utilized. Begin by clicking the Import button. This will open a new window. Use it to locate the file to be imported. Highlight the file, click "Open" and name the new Stock List (see Create description for details). Click the "OK" after naming it and a new Stock List window will open with the imported stock list.

Delete: To remove an existing Stock List, highlight the desired List and click the Delete button. An action window will open to confirm the deletion of a List. Click "OK" to proceed or "Cancel" to abort the removal of a List.
Cancel: To close the Stock List Menu, click the Cancel button. All changes made to the Menu will be saved.
