Q: What setting modifications are needed after upgrading to Microsoft Internet Explorer 7?

A: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 has enhanced security features that may restrict our services from functioning properly. Please use the following guidelines to resolve setting issues with this browser version:

  1. Close all but one browser window
  2. From the Tools menu, click "Internet Options"
  3. Click the "Security" tab at the top of the window
  4. Highlight the "Internet" icon and confirm a "Medium-high" (or lower) setting; click the "Default level" to reset to this level
  5. Highlight the "Trusted sites" icon and click the Sites button
  6. Remove (click) the check mark from "Require server verification" if present
  7. Enter "www.dailygraphs.com" and "www.investors.com" in the open field, clicking the Add button after each address is entered
  8. Click Close and OK buttons to complete task

Additionally, an "Msxml" item must be enabled to access the charts. A yellow bar should appear with an enable prompt when first accessing a page that requires this feature. To confirm Msxml is enabled, use the following guidelines:

  1. Close all but one browser window
  2. From the Tools menu, select Manage add-ons and select "Enable or Disable Add-ons"
  3. From the "Show" field button, select "Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer"
  4. Locate and highlight "Msxml"
  5. Confirm or change setting to Enable
  6. Click OK to close window and accept setting changes.

If the above did not resolve your problem, access the Technical Support page to request additional assistance.

Q: Will the charts run on a Windows Vista computer?

A: While the charts are fully functional on Vista, the additional security features of this operating system may result in a roadblock. To resolve this issue, complete the following task:

  1. From the Vista Start menu search, type the name of your browser, i.e. "Internet Explorer" or "Firefox"
  2. Use the right-mouse button to click the found item
  3. From the opened menu, select "run as administrator"

When the above is completed, the Stock Graphs should be fully functional.

If your Stock Graphs membership includes a subscription to the eSignal Real-time service, it may be necessary to perform the above noted steps for the eSignal Data Manager (enter "Data Manager" in the menu search field).

If the above did not resolve your problem, access the Technical Support page to request additional assistance.

Q: When the Stock Graphs link is clicked, nothing happens. How do I access the graphs?

A: To access the graphs, your computer must allow pop-up windows to open. If your computer has pop-up ad blocker software or antivirus/firewall software that prevents pop-up browser windows from opening, these programs must be disabled or adjusted to allow pop-up windows.

To determine if your computer setup is preventing a new browser window from opening, click the link below. If a new window does not open, the charts will not be accessible until this issue is resolved.

Q: The message "we're sorry...one or more controls failed to load" appears when trying to access the graphs. How do I fix this problem?

A: If a control file fails to load, it is an indication our chart software is either not installed or not working properly. To resolve this issue, install our software by clicking this link to access the download page.

Please note, if the setup.exe has been used to install the software, use the "repair" option during the file installation.

To check the ActiveX settings in the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, access the Internet Options from the Tools menu and verify the ActiveX controls are "enabled." Select the "medium" setting to enable ActiveX functionality.

If you are using software that restricts Internet activity, disable this software (for the purposes of testing), and open a new window to access the charts. If this resolves the problem, it is an indication the Internet security software settings need to be modified.

Note: A number of anti-virus programs and full-service Internet Service Providers now offer firewall protection. As a result, it may be necessary to check these programs to resolve this issue.

If you are accessing the network from a LAN or work location, contact the Network Administrator to verify the ActiveX settings on your computer and the network.

If you are able to verify all security settings allow ActiveX controls to run, and our software has never been installed on the computer, it is possible your browser is not responding to the software installation prompt. Please contact us for additional assistance.

If the above did not resolve your problem, access the Technical Support page to request additional assistance.

Q: The command buttons ("Daily", "Weekly", "Market", etc.) do not work. How can I correct this?

A: The command buttons in Stock Graphs utilize JavaScript, a widely used browser language. If the command buttons cannot be seen or do not work properly, it is an indication of a problem with the JavaScript element. The first step to resolve this matter is to check the browser settings. Access our Technical Support page to confirm your JavaScript settings are "supported" and "enabled."

If the Technical Support JavaScript settings are not correct, please disable/close any anti-virus or firewall software and try again. It may also be necessary to check your browser’s security settings to ensure the JavaScript functions are enabled.

If your computer has the correct JavaScript settings, it may be necessary to reinstall the browser JavaScript program files. For Microsoft Internet Explorer users, the JavaScript files can be reinstalled from the Microsoft web site.

Visit the Microsoft Download Center at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/ and search All Downloads for "Windows Script Host." Make sure to download the version appropriate to your operating system. When the installation is complete, restart the computer and access the Stock Graphs.

If the above did not resolve your problem, access the Technical Support page to request additional assistance.

Q: Accessing the charts from a computer running Windows XP with the Service Pack 2 security updates.

A: The Windows XP Service Pack 2 update may affect the ability to access our charts by:

  1. Preventing a new pop-up window from opening; and
  2. Preventing our ActiveX software from installing

Included with the Service Pack 2 update is a pop-up blocker for the Microsoft Internet Explorer. Our charts are accessible only from a pop-up window. To allow a pop-up window to open, press and hold down the CRTL key when clicking a chart link or adjust the pop-up settings.

To adjust the pop-up blocker settings, click the Microsoft Internet Explorer Tools menu, highlight Pop-up Blocker and select one of the two options. Please note, the "settings" option will permit you to enter our web address, www.dailygraphs.com, to an "allow" list, making it possible to access the charts without further effort.

With regard to accessing our ActiveX software, if our charts have been installed on the computer before the Service Pack 2 update, you will not need to reinstall our software.

If our software is not installed on your computer, it will automatically attempt to download when the chart window opened. The default settings of the Service Pack 2 update will prevent the software from downloading, resulting in a message indicating a control failed to load. When this happens, you should also see a yellow bar appear at the top of the browser window—click this bar to change the permission settings.

When the software has downloaded, it will open dialogue window asking for permission to install—click "OK" to proceed. When all files are installed, the chart should appear. If all you see is a blank window, restart the computer and try again.

If the graph still does not appear, please visit our Technical Support page for assistance.

Q: How do I reinstall the Stock Graphs software?

In May 2007, we modified our installation process to use a standard program executable format instead of a browser ActiveX installation. This change should make it easier for users to install and remove our software.

If you previously installed our software via the ActiveX controls, installing the chart software via our setup.exe file will disable the old files so that they do not cause a conflict. To remove the old files, use the following guidelines:

  1. Access "Internet Options" window from the Control Panel;
  2. From the General tab, click the "Delete Files" button to clear the cache;
  3. Click the "Settings" button, and then "View Objects" in the new window;
  4. From the "Downloaded Program Files" window, locate and delete the following controls: PFMngr, Plotwon, WonList, and WonSearchX;
  5. Close all windows noted above by clicking the "OK" buttons;

To reinstall the setup.exe files, please click here to access our download page. When installing this over existing files, use the "repair" option when prompted. To remove the setup.exe files, access the Add or Remove Programs tool from the Control Panel and select "Remove" on the DGOControls item.

If the above did not resolve your problem, access the Technical Support page to request additional assistance.

Q: While using a dial-up accelerator to connect to the Internet, I am not able to access the graphs. How can this issue be resolved?

A: A dial-up accelerator program is designed to increase the download speed of common web pages (images and text), however its use may interfere with the login session of our service. As a result, the graphs may not function. To resolve this issue, access the graphs only when the dial-up accelerator is not running.

If the above did not resolve your problem, access the Technical Support page to request additional assistance.

Q: The message "account is currently in use" appears. How do I access the service?

A: If you log into a Daily Graphs Online service from more than one computer at the same time, or if you were not logged out from a previous session, this message will appear. To resolve this issue, click the Log Out link, log back in and open a new graph window. If the problem persists, close all browsers windows and log in with a new browser window.

If the above did not resolve your problem, access the Technical Support page to request additional assistance.

Q: My Stock Lists open but there are no stocks. How do I access the stocks in my lists?

A: If the Stock Lists opens and the lists you created are no longer present, it is likely your log in session has been disrupted. To resolve this issue, close your browser windows and log in again.

In some cases, the Stock List control loaded on your computer should be updated to resolve the issue. To do so:

  1. Access the Internet Options window from the Control Panel;
  2. On the General tab, press the Delete Files button to clear your cache;
  3. Press the Settings button and then View Objects in the next window;
  4. Locate the file "PFMngr" and delete it by right clicking on the file name and selecting remove.
  5. Log into our site and open the chart. The file will download automatically and may take a few minutes to load. Click "YES" or "OK" on the installation prompts that appear. Once complete, the default chart should appear and you Stock Lists should be accessible.

If the above did not resolve your problem, access the Technical Support page to request additional assistance.

Q: Is it possible to see more price/volume history on the graphs?

A: The Daily graphs show up to two years of price/volume activity. In addition, Change Date tool allows you to change the date of the most recent price and volume bars to produce a daily graph with historical activity that is up to five-years old.

The Weekly graphs will show up to five years. The Monthly graphs will show up to ten years.

The amount of chart history displayed on your computer is dependent on three factors:

  • Size of your chart browser window
  • Display's pixel settings
  • Monitor size

To view the greatest amount of graph history, maximize the Stock Graphs window and/or select a higher pixel setting (access the Display settings from the Control Panel).

If the above did not resolve your problem, access the Technical Support page to request additional assistance.
