What is the Daily Graphs Industry Groups?
A collection of screens designed to present dynamic Industry Group information derived from the O'Neil 197 Industry Group database. Studies show most top-performing stocks are found in the top quartile of groups and that group action determines at least half of a stock's performance. The left side of the page offers options to scan Group performance on different criteria including current day's performance, highest ranked industries, groups with greatest percentage of stocks reaching new highs and other criteria.

How do I get started?
The Industry Group Home page presents two dynamic Industry Group tables that show the best and worst performing industries based on intraday price performance.

The Daily Percentage Change is updated continuously throughout the day with prices delayed 20 minutes.

The 10 Best Performing Groups are listed by Daily Percentage Change and the table offers the options of viewing a list of stocks that comprise the Industry Group and an option to view the Industry Group on a Daily Chart. Once the Industry Group Chart icon is selected, a new chart will pop-up with an option to view a Weekly Chart as well.

The 10 Worst Performing Groups are listed by Daily Percentage Change and the table offers the options of viewing a list of stocks that comprise the Industry Group and an option to view the Industry Group on Daily Chart. Once the Industry Group Chart icon is selected, a new chart will pop-up with an option to view a Weekly Chart as well.

What is the difference between Industry Group rank and Industry Group Relative Strength Rating?
The Industry Group Rank is a proprietary number obtained by calculating the least-squares curve fit of summed prices on certain stocks within that industry. Another calculation is then done using all companies in the group. Separate weightings are used for different time periods. Groups are ranked from 1 (best) to 197.

The Industry Group Relative Strength Rating is presented in both numeric and letter forms. The Numeric Rating and Letter Rating are percentile-based versions of Industry Group Rank, a proprietary number obtained by calculating the least-squares curve fit of summed prices on certain stocks within that industry. Another calculation is then done using all companies in the group. Separate weightings are used for different time periods.

The Numeric Rating presents the Industry Groups ranked in value from 99 (highest) to 1 (lowest).

The Letter Rating presents the Industry Groups ranked in letter grade from A (highest) to E (lowest).

When are the New Highs and New Lows pages updated?
These pages are updated intraday with prices delayed 20 minutes. This New Highs page presents intraday data showing those groups with the Highest Percentage of Stocks Making New Highs, an indicator of Industry Group Strength.

The individual stocks making new highs or new lows are presented in descending order by Volume Percentage Change versus the stock’s 50-Day Moving Average. The "Vol Pct Chg" listed for individual stocks is also an intraday calculation of each 20 minutes of trading data. Once the first 20 minutes is received, the program forecasts over the remaining time period the market is open what the volume would be if it continued at the same rate. This forecasted volume is compared against the stock’s 50-Day Average Volume and a percentage calculated above or below this average volume is derived. After the second 20 minute data is received, the program sums the 40 minutes of volume data and forecasts again what the volume would be if it continued at the same rate over the remaining period the market is open.

What volume scale is being used for the Industry Group Charts?
The Daily Chart is presented in arithmetic scaling and the Weekly Chart is presented in logarithmic scaling. There is no option to change the chart comparable to an individual stock's Daily Chart in Daily Graphs Online.
